The Port of the Americas provides manufacturers the opportunity to offload cargo into a Free Trade Zone for assembly and packaging in Puerto Rico (what's being called the port's value added appeal). The finished products can then be loaded onto smaller ships for export distribution along north and south shipment routes to Latin America, North America and the Caribbean or by air to anywhere in the world.
