Page 1 of 7 Patillas Tourism – South Puerto Rico (Porta Caribe) Special Beaches, Lakes and Forrests
(45 minutes east of Ponce) Getting There For reasons unknown to us Patillas, Puerto Rico, is overlooked in most guide books. Maybe this is a good thing, as the area still feels Puerto Rican and has the air of a friendly beach town. The city grew up around the once vibrant sugar cane industry. Later, secret societies met here to plot against Spanish colonial rule.

beaches, lakes, and forests. And for good reason, Patillas (pronounced
pat-E-yus) is largely untouched and simply spectacular in its natural
beauty.
