About the Village of La Parguera, Lajas

The town itself is just but a few walkable blocks of quaint tourist trinket shops, bars, economical restaurants, and diving companies – the central focus being the malecón with Puerto Rican-style fast food leading to boat rental and water excursion companies.

People here are friendly, but a little reserved. Your own smile is the key to opening the door to hospitality in La Parguera, where they quickly warm to you and will happily help make you comfortable.

The panaderia (deli) on the way into La Parguera offers good breakfast for an affordable price, along with a taste of local life.

Coño (damn, as in “damn that’s good!”), is the local and notorious brand of Sangria, available on the malecón. La Parguera has new strict Codes of Public Order, so it’s wise not to wander into the streets with your beverages, but do appoint a designated driver or guide. The town maintains its quiet nature with enforced closing times of 12 midnight and a Code of Public Order that carries fines for misbehavior. Like most things in Puerto Rico, people are lowkey about this, but better not to test fate.

Festively painted turquoise, orange, red and green houseboats float at the banks of the town and many of its mangrove covered shores and cays – a private cozy community of second homes that has built up over time.
