Getting Here – Fly and Drive Information for South Puerto Rico, Porta Caribe and Ponce Area

Getting to South Puerto Rico's Porta Caribe and Ponce has never been easier with the recent addition of direct flights from three major U.S. cities and easy car rental from major agencies.

 

  • Fly Direct to Ponce

South Puerto Rico Porta Caribe Ponce Flight InformationPonce's Mercedita Airport (Airport Code PSE) is your launching point (thus the site's name: "LetsGoToPonce"). Fly direct from the East Coast of the United States via Spirit Airlines or JetBlue.

 

Cape Air Flight Information: 

Cape Air has three flights daily from San Juan to Ponce, late morning, late afternoon, and early evening.

 

JetBlue Flight Information: 

From New York's JFK, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale airports JetBlue Airways flies into Ponce once a day--arriving at 4:43 a.m., 3:40 a.m., and 3:23 a.m., respectively. Return flights depart at 6:00 a.m to JFK, 4:15 a.m. to Orlando, and 4:35 a.m. to Fort Lauderdale.  See the article announcing JetBlue  Airways' direct to Ponce from Orlando flights .

 

Spirit Airlines Flight Information: 
Spirit Airlines flights arrive daily at 3:00 a.m. from Fort Lauderdale airport, with return flights departing at 3:50 a.m.

 

 

  • Rent A Car

Car rental South Puerto Rico Porta Caribe Ponce Vacation Tourism To truly enjoy the adventure that South Puerto Rico tourism present, we highly recommend that you rent a car. Hertz, Alamo, National, Payless, and Popular Auto all rent cars on the South side of the island and of course, you can book in advance with their Websites.

 

Tip: If you're staying in one of Puerto Rico's family owned small hotels ("Paradores"), you can reference CDP1506105 for a discount on your car rental with Hertz.

 

Puerto Rico Map If you arrive to Puerto Rico's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, drive-time to Ponce and the Caribbean Coast of the island is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. To avoid the rush hour traffic, start your trip after 10 a.m. and before 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. See our Puerto Rico Map Page for help with the simple route: Highway 52. You'll pass two tolls on your way.

 

If you're a U.S. citizen getting into Puerto Rico is as easy as entering any state of the union, if you're traveling state-to-state.

 

If you're not a U.S. citizen, you will need a passport to enter Puerto Rico.

 

Tip: To protect agriculture and livestock on the mainland, the U.S. Department of Agriculture inspects all luggage passing from Puerto Rico to the United States. The U.S. Customs and Boarder Control Website has a list of all banned items. A hefty fine is applied to people who break the rules.
